Frequently Asked Questions...
Leaving your fur family in someone else's care, can be incredibly daunting. ACAS takes pride in ensuring all your questions and concerns are answered.
01
Do you look after the pet's in your home or mine?
Pets will remain in their own environment. Having family members / carers disappear can be very stressful for pets, so adding movement to unfamiliar surroundings, does tend to further traumatize. This is why ACAS wanted to provide a service with a difference, to enable your pet to have as little disruption in your absence as possible.
02
What happens if my pet has an emergency?
You will be required to complete ACAS's booking request form and within that, we require owners to answer detailed questions about any prior medical history and which vet's owners prefer to use for their pet's care. ACAS will endeavor to use the client's preferred vet should any emergency occur, however in the absence / availability of the preferred vet, ACAS will get the animal to the closest emergency vet. ACAS also requests that owners notify their regular vet of their absence and inform them that ACAS will be caring for their pet. ACAS staff are also well educated when it comes to warning signs of illness in both cats and dogs. ACAS staff also recently completed a Canine CPR and First Aid class to ensure we are equipped to deal with common ailments that may be experienced by your pets.
03
My dog doesn't like strangers, how will you manage?!
ACAS staff have had years of experience dealing with a wide variety of clients. Pets uncomfortable with strangers are always treated with the utmost of care, with the intention being to form a trusting relationship between the sitter and your pet using positive reinforcement techniques. The building of this bond can take time, but ACAS is always patient and we have a number of treat related tricks to bring around even the most challenging pets!
04
My pet needs daily medication, can you help with that?
ACAS can take care of medication administration. We can administer pills, take care of grooming or ointment application for pets with dermatological issues, clean ears and eyes and do all the jobs your pet requires in your absence.
